Who am I and what do I do

Of all the gifts God gave me one has stood the test of time

My ability to spin a yarn in authentic Aussie rhyme

From yarns that make you ROFL, or wipe away a tear

I’ve told them all in rhyming verse with message loud and clear

 

If a picture tells a thousand words, bush poetry’s the reverse

But you’re the movie maker, with each line you traverse

It brings to life the ordinary, adds flavour to the plain

It’ll make a masterpiece, of things that seem mundane

 

That is why I’ve written, read and loved since were a youth

And I don’t do much reading, to tell you the truth

See Mackellar, Lawson, Patterson, was all I’d read when young

At my age now, bush poetry, is my artistic tongue

 

So that is why I want to take this gift God’s given me

To help you tell your story, as Aussie as it can be
